Riviera Bay is next to Golden Bay and in Maltese call Ghajn Tuffieha Bay (Riviera). The hillside behind the beach is also a natural park which offers an unspoiled rural view all year round. The rough waves and golden sand provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Riviera Bay also has a remarkable history. On top of the cliffs, you will be able to see an ancient defense tower, built in the mid-1600s, which was used as a watch tower through World War II. The Ghajn Tuffieha Tower is one of the seven towers built by Grand Master Giovanni Paolo Lascaris of the Knights Hospitalet. It is open for visits on a daily basis.
Here, you will also find remnants of the Ghajn Tuffieha Roman Baths. The site comprises a number of rooms as well as a latrine and a corridor with small rooms, which are thought to have been changing rooms or bedrooms.
